Indian-space mission assurance — an allied decision input
The stakes first, in Bharat's own numbers: Gaganyaan will carry Indian crew on Bharat's own human-rated LVM3/HLVM3; NISAR flew roughly $1.5B of NASA–ISRO flagship science, uninsured; CMS-03 carries a ₹1,589-crore Navy communications contract; Chandrayaan-3 landed ₹615 crore of national achievement clean — on a window this record had read positive, sealed beforehand. For the boards and desks that carry those stakes, this is a graded early-warning decision input: a dated read on each gate, on the public record before the window, graded after. The Tirumala question — two languages of one tradition
Before a launch, ISRO's scientists carry a miniature of the launch vehicle up the Tirumala hills to Sri Venkateswara (Balaji), with a stop at the Chengalamma temple near Sriharikota — a decades-old, documented pilgrimage that this work honors without reservation. Yet the pilgrimage is embraced while jyotish — a Vedāṅga, a limb of the Veda, from the very same scripture — is set aside as pseudoscience. That selective respect carries a cost: for the NASA-ISRO NISAR mission, a sealed, dated forecast (LA-011) said the 16 July 2025 · 17:00 IST GSLV Mk II window would not hold; it did not, and the date moved. The forecast reads the configuration of the moment, not whom the Lord favors; devotion and timing are complementary gifts of one tradition. If anyone should recognise that science and this tradition are two languages of one truth, it is India.
